All Eyes On Selfridges

Selfridges was named the Best Department Store in the World 2018 at the Global Department Store Summit in London - and there’s no question why. All four of their impressive stores are flooded with extravagant exhibitions of the world’s most desirable brands. A one-stop shop for luxurious retail therapy and products presented in the most imaginative displays, often featuring PERSPEX® acrylic in their ground-breaking visual communications.
Located in the heart of Manchester city centre, it’s not the first time that Selfridges Exchange Square store has appointed Floreeda Fabrications to create a bespoke in-store display, but this could be their finest to date…
Team Floreeda specified PERSPEX® acrylic as the material to produce three huge centre-pieces to celebrate the launch of Selfridges brand-new eyewear campaign, Eye See: see the world differently. It is yet another striking campaign that steals your attention immediately upon entering the store, with each structure maintaining a continual movement.
Every component created for these moving sculptures involved expert fabrication techniques and advanced solutions to ensure the department store’s vision became a reality.
Presented in the left entrance window, visitors see a large-scale rectangular box made from PERSPEX® Vario Lagoon Green, centre-balanced on a triangular plinth, creating a pivot for the box to ‘See-Saw’ up and down and encouraging (Eye)balls to scurry back and forth.
The right-side window features a rotating 2 metre high hour-glass container made using PERSPEX® Vario Honolulu Pink; once again housing (Eye)balls that shuffle around the casing, grabbing the onlookers attention.
The third and final piece literally takes ‘centre-stage’, presented in the middle of the stores’ entrance walkway. A giant square case made from PERSPEX® Clear (cast) measuring 1600mm, was laser cut with hundreds of ventilation holes and positioned on top of four industrial sized upward facing fans; kicking up a storm within the box and encouraging many multi-coloured flecks to fly out of control. The box showcases just one selected product for Selfridges, on a pedestal made from PERSPEX® Vario Tropical Yellow, yet another eye-catching tint from the PERSPEX® colour range…
