Key Colour Trend for Autumn Winter 2017/18
With our colour feelers out & about, we can confirm reports of a purple takeover. From window displays to fashion runways to automotives, it’s easy to see this powerful colour taking over.
Combining the stability of blue and the energy of red in different measures produces an assortment of mouth-watering shades: raspberry, mulberry, blackcurrant and grape. It’s no wonder that purple is the colour most often associated with royalty, magic and piety, symbolising mystery, power and luxury. This is a colour that speaks all the right messages for designers and retailers, especially at this time of year where Christmas shoppers are searching for gifts that speak of extravagance.
Laurie Pressman, Vice-President of the Pantone Color Institute commented on the creation of ‘Love Symbol #2”, a proprietary custom colour created in honour of international icon, Prince, saying: “(it) conveys an aura of mystery, intrigue and unconventionality, a color that stands apart from all others, something Prince, a performer of distinctive style certainly did.”.
